The hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, medical and surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatients. Whyalla Hospital's Cancer Resource Centre is one of the largest in regional South Australia, including six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care, and counselling services. It is also one of three stroke services in regional SA, providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients 24/7, supported by metropolitan stroke units. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community.Relocation and Accommodation Assistance:Financial assistance for relocation may be available for eligible applicants for appointments prior to 31 December 2024.Accommodation support may be available - conditions apply.Support and Training:Supervision – as per the Regional LHN Allied Health Supervision Framework.Access to Professional Development funding.Scholarships may be available to undertake a Certificate of Rural General Practice/Graduate Diploma of Rural Generalist Practice via the Allied Health Rural Generalist Pathway (AHRGP) Rural Generalist Program - JCU Australia.Access to contextual Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training (specific to the region).About the Role:Step into a transformative role as a TCP Allied Health Professional - Occupational Therapist, where your clinical expertise and specialized knowledge will drive the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the needs of our local community.In this role, you'll operate with increased autonomy, guiding and mentoring less experienced allied health professionals, assistants, and students while being an integral part of a dynamic multi-professional team. You'll employ a blend of preventative strategies, early interventions, and advanced treatment approaches to deliver exceptional care and improve outcomes.About You:Must hold a recognised qualification within a relevant Allied Health profession and be eligible for practicing membership of the relevant Professional Association.Apply professional expertise, developing generalist/specialist knowledge, clinical competence and experience to provide professional services to client groups in circumstances requiring increasingly complex practice skills.Exercise professional judgment in the selection and adaptation of established methods, procedures, and techniques within the profession.Manage and prioritise personal workload and support others in developing workload management plans, including in the allocation of team resources.Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances).The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working including part-time.
