The department provides workplace adjustments for applicants with disabilities.About the RoleOperating under limited direction, the Surveillance Lead exercises professional independent judgement to provide on-site assurance that the delivery of construction activities including service relocation, earthworks, pavements, drainage, surfacing, traffic signals and bridgeworks according to project scope, specifications and is in accordance with DTP policies and guidelines and safety requirements.This is a fixed term position for two years. To access the full position description, please click here.Your outcomes and accountabilities,Project Assurance – Continuously assures that works are being executed in accordance with the requirements of Specifications, technical standards, codes of practice and legislation.Project Monitoring – Provides timely advice and records on the progress of works including against schedule, budget, resource plans, and supports the evaluation of contractor claims.Construction and OH&S Advice – Provides advice on construction practices, safe execution of works, and innovative responses to complex construction and traffic management problems where defined policy and procedures do not always exist.Community Engagement – The incumbent has actively engaged with key stakeholders and the community.Quality and Risk Management – Assists in the preparation of risk-based surveillance plans and undertakes surveillance and audits in accordance with that plan.In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities.Key Selection CriteriaWe are seeking a professional skilled in project delivery who can execute tasks according to plans, prioritizing them based on urgency and impact when specific plans are not defined. You should be comfortable using task management tools and maintaining precise project records. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential, as you'll interpret existing guidelines or develop solutions in consultation with others when they are unavailable.Stakeholder management is vital, with a focus on adding value for clients and linking them to relevant resources or teams. You will actively monitor stakeholder satisfaction and handle issues constructively. In influence and negotiation, you'll adapt communication to your audience and align your ideas with others' needs and goals to address objections effectively.Your background in construction management will be applied to monitoring work performance against standards, using civil construction knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise. You will also engage in innovation and continuous improvement by suggesting ways to improve effectiveness in your work area and maintaining high standards under pressure.Personal attributes needed include resilience, flexibility, and a focus on outcomes. You will provide constructive feedback, approach criticism with openness, and communicate confidently.
