The Parole Board Queensland was established as an independent authority and its statutory functions and powers are exercised independent from influence by Queensland Corrective Services (QCS).
As an independent decision-making body, the Board receives information from a range of people, service providers and organisations. The Board scrutinizes the information it is provided with and maintains public confidence in the parole decision-making process through transparency in its processes.
The Secretariat is a business unit established under the Community Corrections and Specialist Operations division in QCS. The Secretariat supports the Board through the provision of administrative and legal support in accordance with QCS' statutory obligations relating to the operations of the Board.
We need you to have strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills, the ability to meet the challenges of working in a demanding work environment, to be able to navigate the Agency's electronic recording systems and databases, have strong team working skills, provide consultancy advice to stakeholders, and you'll have a good understanding of how the criminal justice system works.
Your day to day will be ensuring the Secretariat supports the Board through the provision of administrative support, in accordance with the Agency's statutory obligations, under the CSA. As someone with a keen eye for detail, you'll be providing comprehensive administrative support and stakeholders at the Board relating to offender management issues. You'll be assisting with monitoring and maintaining the Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS) to ensure accurate statistics and data are available.

The essential requirements for this role are:
Communication skills as demonstrated through the ability to listen, understand and speak clearly to a wide range of audiences. Written skills with the ability to summarise information and data. Competence in maintaining an accountable recording system. Proven administrative skills. Ability to apply and understand departmental policies and procedures. Ability to use judgment and discretion with confidential information. Planning & Organising abilities to ensure tasks are completed within the required deadlines and in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures. Information technology skills at a competent level with the willingness to learn new IT skills and use internal information management databases as well as Microsoft Office software. Ability to acquire knowledge of relevant acts and regulations. Decision making and reasoning involve gathering information, evaluating a variety of solutions, and selecting the best option, working ethically, working under pressure and demonstrating resilience. Teamwork skills with the ability to work without supervision and as part of the broader team. In addition, demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute to team results. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with a focus on providing strong customer service. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
