About the OPPORTUNITY We have a newly created opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team based at our Adelaide Offices. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working.
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will provide expert Quality Assurance to the business and suppliers, with a focus on assessing supplier performance vs. requirements and providing subsequent guidance to develop supplier capability. You will act as an internal lead, responsible for guiding suppliers in response to non-conformances identified within projects.
The SQE will take a pro-active approach towards technical supplier development in support of the Hunter Class Frigate Program.
You will be responsible for:
Supplier Assessment: Assess supplier/sub-contractor product & services vs project requirements. Monitor the performance of suppliers/sub-contractors in accordance with risk-based supplier surveillance. Supplier Technical Support: Apply relevant manufacturing/engineering judgement in the identification of supplier performance deviations. Investigate and manage supplier-related non-conformance issues in line with industry 8D process (Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Interim Containment Actions (ICA), Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA) etc). Apply Continual Improvement initiatives or models such as Total Quality Management, Six Sigma Techniques, Lean methodologies and implement these as necessary. Supplier Development: Assist projects with the establishment and maintenance of beneficial relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors. Lead training and deployment of Advanced Product Quality Process (APQP) to suppliers. On-site development of supplier capability in support of PPAP, PDVI, FAI, CoC (or equivalents required by the enterprise). Draw upon internal project expertise to facilitate supplier capability development. Develop capability across BAE System Australia suppliers to facilitate QMS (ISO9001, AS9100, AS9110) alignment/certification where required. About YOU Australian Citizen, eligible to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance (Essential). Working experience of ISO9001/AS9100/AS9110 Quality standards/certifications. Deep knowledge of naval certifications and associated Defence sector regulatory frameworks. Strong verbal & written communication skills, including proven ability to influence both internal & external key stakeholders. High attention to detail, and ability to identify discrepancies and correct records/reports. Working Experience in mechanical/electrical/electronic manufacturing and a sound knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications (preferred). Working experience in the deployment and assessment of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Process) across suppliers. Working experience in supplier capability assessments, gap analysis, and technical development planning, across the areas of: Quality, SHE, Security, Manufacturing, Product Safety, etc. Certification/Diplomas in Quality Certification Standards essential. Australian Qualifications Framework diploma or higher (or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline. Lean six sigma certification (Green Belt minimum).
