About the role:
To supervise, coordinate and provide leadership to the Haematology-Transfusion service in the Toowoomba laboratory and ensure that laboratory practices in all Toowoomba group laboratories (Charleville, Dalby, Longreach, Roma, Kingaroy and Warwick) comply with Pathology Queensland requirements in providing an effective and efficient Haematology-Transfusion service across the Darling Downs, South West and Central West District Hospitals and Health Services. The Supervising Scientist Haematology/Transfusion in PQ Toowoomba reports to the Group Laboratory Manager, PQ Toowoomba.
What we are looking for:
Demonstrated ability to apply well developed scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of Haematology/Transfusion advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.

Demonstrated ability to provide advice to laboratory staff and District Hospital and Health Service clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to service delivery and improvement opportunities for Pathology Queensland.

Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and established principles / procedures.

Demonstrated well developed knowledge, expertise and skill in the management of Haematology/Transfusion in line with the strategic direction of Toowoomba group laboratories.

The successful applicant must hold at least a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical

Laboratory Science (or agreed equivalent) from a recognised university or tertiary institution.

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
