About Melbourne Coffee MerchantsOur singular focus is to source and offer a carefully curated and exceptional selection of high-quality green coffees to specialty-focused Australian roasters. We are committed to quality, transparency, exceptional customer service, and igniting positive change in the coffee industry.
These principles have a real impact on the way we buy coffee, the people we work with, and how we run our business. Uncompromising Approach to QualityDelicious, high quality coffee is our sole focus.
We look for coffees that we love and find delicious, and that we’re excited to share.
We work with dedicated and progressive producers, who care as much as we do about quality and share our values, and who produce exceptional coffees. Transparency & TraceabilityTransparency is integral to our business at every level.
We have fostered a culture that encourages direct and open communication; an approach that has helped us form long-lasting relationships with our team, our customers, and our producers overseas. We strive to add value and insight by providing as much traceability as possible on every single coffee we purchase.
Wherever we can, we visit each of the producers we work with and develop long-term relationships with them over time.
We share information with our customers about where our beans come from, how they are harvested and processed, and the background and stories of the people that grow them. We take our role as a link-builder between producers and purveyors seriously.
We want to help our customers learn about our coffees and share these stories with their customers and, ultimately, to get everyone as excited about the coffees as we are! Exceptional ServiceWe care deeply about supporting our customers – big and small – to help them grow, succeed and prosper.
We love being part of a customer’s journey by providing the highest quality green beans and support along the way.
Nothing makes us happier than seeing a customer get excited about our coffee offerings and fall in love with the coffees they’re roasting.
We strive to build open and honest relationships with our customers and to provide consistently exceptional service and support. Igniting Positive ChangeBy standing true to our values, we believe we can use our business for good and ignite a positive and lasting change in the coffee industry.
Here is how we strive to have meaningful impact: >Through education – at both the industry and consumer level.
The more we can grow demand for high quality coffee, the more we can purchase from our supply partners at a high premium, creating opportunity and long-term stability for quality-focused coffee producers. >Through the way we buy coffee.
We are passionate about buying coffee in a sustainable and socially responsible way, and paying premiums for the coffees we purchase.
The ‘C’ price does not enter into our conversations with producers – we instead find a price point that is mutually beneficial and allows the producer to prosper and continuously invest in quality. >Through our relationships at origin.
We are incredibly proud of the fact that many of the producers we work with have been our partners since we started sourcing coffee in 2008.
We care deeply about the producers we work with – we try to visit them every year, and we strive to build meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships based on trust, openness and respect. >Through our team and work environment.
We have a small and awesome team, and we strive to create a work environment that is supportive, positive and focused, and a culture that encourages learning, curiosity and a drive to do things (exceptionally) well. _ Please note, we will be taking applications for this job until 21 May.
Only successful candidates will receive a response. Thank you!
