Selection Criteria SC1 Understanding of development processes and training requirements of student-athletes in the AFL program.

Role The ability to design and deliver high-level AFL program coaching and youth athletic development services and curriculum to the Western Heights College Specialist Sports program.
Develop systems, programs and long-term coaching and athletic development plans for the AFL program and its student-athletes.
Responsibilities Deliver and provide coaching to the Western Heights College AFL Specialist Sports Program student-athletes aged 13 -18 in both small and large groups of students. Deliver strength, conditioning and training preparation programs primarily to the AFL cohort. Support the delivery of AFL Education, health, respectful relationships, injury prevention, recovery, sport and exercise science curriculums to student-athletes from Year 7-10. Assist in administrative tasks relevant to the AFL program, including School Sport Victoria bookings and communications to the school, student-athletes and parent-carers. Support the physical performance testing, data collection, evaluation and feedback for the AFL program. Use this data for ongoing reporting, assessment and analysis. Attend talent identification and Specialist Sports Program trial processes for incoming student-athletes. Be responsible for student-athlete uniforms and equipment, pre, during and post competitions and events. Work closely with WHC staff to ensure long term development and progression plans are in place for student-athletes in AFL. Support the growth and development of the AFLW program at WHC. Support and contribute to student-athlete assessment and reporting (Year 7-12), as well as engaging parent-carers in improving student-athlete outcomes in the AFL program. Support and assist student-athlete growth in both academic and athletic aspirations. Deliver programs that demonstrate WHC values of responsibility, inclusion and courage supporting the SSP mantra of 'excellence in sport and life'. Other duties as required by the Principal of Specialist Sports Program Leader.
