About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for aDocument Control Specialistto join our Digital Engineering Data Management (DEDM) team. Within the Asset Management and Engineering Services (AMES) division, this newly created opportunity will see you add value and assist in shaping and implementing an integrated engineering data management solution to our Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) business. You will lead a remote team of professionals undertaking daily functions of the RTIO drawing and document management systems while working closely with a significant stakeholder group to drive consistent and governed working methods.
The DEDM team’s main purposes are engineering design, drafting services, engineering data management (EDM), system administration of EDM and CAD environments, engineering reference centre with technical standards, specifications, reports, etc. and drawing document control for RTIO, working closely with our partners to drive consistent and governed working methods.

Reporting to the Principal Digital Engineering & Data Management (DEDM), you will:
Establish a strict and governed Document Control system to RTIO for adherence and quality checking
Ensure oversight and management of RTIO’s embedded partner, encompassing their QA/DC team
Appropriate training orientation and induction sessions for new starters on document management and client requirements
Review and assist with the development of procedures and document control guidelines in accordance with Company requirements
Coordinate and report on project status and handover
Communicate with management, client and sub-contractors effectively in resolving matters relating to document control

About you
We’re looking for experienced and capable document control leaders who are excited by the opportunity to deliver data management systems and processes that are ultimately future proof. Great interpersonal and communication skills will allow you to work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders including our contractors and vendor partners.
You will have developed valuable experience in the field of document control, workflows information management, drafting, engineering data management systems, processes, governance, contractor management and quality assurance.
You will also have a good understanding of the current information management, drafting and digital asset representation technologies available, not necessarily specific to the mining and resourcing industries hence we would like to encourage candidate interest from other industries, such as building and architecture.
Ideally, you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and be able to demonstrate your capability in a similar role with experience in engineering, supplier, consultant and commercial document management along with exposure to document expediting, records management and writing procedural documentation.
Where you will be working
You will be based at our Perth Operations Centre located near the domestic airport, working Monday to Friday with regular meetings at the Central Park head office building in the Perth CBD.
