We are looking for a Communications Specialist – People to join the External Affairs & Communications (EA&C) Team. This opportunity would suit applicants who have well-developed writing skills, experience in developing and implementing creative campaigns to capture the attention of stakeholders and a keen interest in communications, particularly in a functional setting.
This role reports to the Business Partner, Communications - Functions in the EA&C Team.
The role provides strategic and tactical communications and engagement advice and assistance to People teams, ensuring alignment on priorities and messaging.
Key duties include Develop Communications Plans for initiatives relating to key People priorities. Coordinate the creative development of internal communications campaigns, including developing communications assets, to ensure 'cut through' and positive employee engagement. Identify positive stories that can be shared across internal channels and/or externally to enhance the reputation of Rio Tinto. Undertake filming or support external vendors to develop videos – including preparing video briefs and scripts. Monitor, evaluate and report on communications impact/reach against key People priorities. Bring innovative ideas relating to communication content and channels, and effectiveness. Ensure appropriate alignment of Rio Tinto Iron Ore's strategy with communications. About You
To be considered you will ideally have
A solid background and keen interest in internal and corporate communications, but may also have experience in other corporate affairs disciplines such as media relations, social media or marketing. Well-developed writing skills and a good understanding of how to adapt content for various channels and audiences. Experience in developing and implementing creative campaigns and videos to draw people's interest. Solid understanding of communications reporting and metrics, and how they guide future activities. Experience in communications teams that work closely with other corporate affairs disciplines including media relations, social media and brand. Solid communication/interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and build effective partnerships. Where you'll be working
This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday out of the Rio Tinto Central Park offices in the Perth CBD. There will be flexibility to work from home on occasional days and ad hoc travel to site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia may be required.
