About the roleWe’ve got a great opportunity for an experienced and passionate Software Engineer, Cloud Hosting to join the team. Based in Brisbane, the Cloud Hosting Team is responsible for building and maintaining the end-to-end lifecycle of Suncorp Public and Private Cloud Platforms, including the development and support of an emerging OpenShift platform.
Key responsibilities will include:Use Agile and Lean practices to drive everyday way of working
Manage and report on operational and financial costs within Cloud provider environments to varied stakeholders
Identify and report security and operational risks to Delivery Manager
Create and maintain relevant documentation including Standard Operating Procedures for all platforms and processes
Highlight technology incident trends for root cause investigation
Contribute to the development and maintenance of disaster recovery and availability plans
Ensure compliance to corporate and TDL governance standards and escalate potential breaches to the Delivery Manager
Identify opportunities for automation
Contribute and drive the development and implementation of technology strategies and roadmaps
Liaise with vendors and technology specialists on new technologies
Identify opportunities to optimise the Total Cost of Ownership of the team’s assets
Participate in the ongoing capacity planning and management of the team’s platform
Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceAt least 5 years hands-on IT experience and 3 years’ experience of IT operations in a large organisation
Experience in maintaining and/or supporting an enterprise Information Technology environment
High level of skill and experience with Kubernetes, Ansible and AWS (required)
Intermediate level of skill and experience with Python and Networking/DNS (required)
Demonstrable experience in requirements gathering, process mapping and re-engineering
A good understanding of public, private & hybrid cloud infrastructure and ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis
Intermediate level of skill and experience with OpenShift, Bash, Linux and Jenkins/CICD (highly desirable)
Experience building applications for, and deploying to, public & private cloud infrastructure (desirable)
Understanding of, and experience with Agile, Lean and DevOps methodologies
