Tasmanian Irrigation Pty Ltd (TI) is the State-owned Company responsible for operating and developing irrigation schemes funded through public/private partnerships.
Since Tasmanian Irrigation was established in 2008, the Company has taken over management of a range of inherited assets, including dams, irrigation schemes and river works, constructed 16 new irrigation projects, including two power stations and advanced planning on a further six projects.
Tasmanian Irrigation now oversees 26,000 individual infrastructure assets with a replacement value of approximately $500 million across 19 operational schemes and has the capacity to deliver more than 133,000 megalitres of irrigation water each year.
By 2030, Tasmanian Irrigation expects to manage a portfolio of irrigation infrastructure valued at more than $900 million, capable of delivering 236,000 megalitres of water via 1,786km of pipeline, 49 pump stations, 15 dams and three power stations.
All schemes developed and operated by Tasmanian Irrigation are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, have strong community endorsement, are designed to last at least 100 years and deliver water at an average reliability of more than 95 percent per annum.
ABOUT THE ROLE The $218 million Northern Midlands Irrigation Scheme is about to commence construction. Are you a Site Engineer with a passion for large-scale projects and wish to play a major part in the delivery of this region-defining project? We are looking for a proactive and experienced individual to join our site supervision team and integrate with our Project Management teams, ensuring the smooth planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction activities to achieve safe, quality and timely project completion. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED As a key member of our site team, you will: Ensure that project needs are supported by ensuring specified engineering tasks are delivered in accordance with approved project schedules. Provide technical input and oversight for construction activities ensuring installation meets TI's technical and contract specifications. Participate in the review of all contractor documentation including construction management plan, ITPs, environmental management plan etc. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all TI regulations and safety legislation and communicate these to all workers on site. Be proactive and work positively with the Construction Contractor and minimize project time, cost and quality impacts. Liaise closely with the Construction Contractor to raise safety, quality and environmental issues proactively and collaboratively. Inform the Contract Superintendent and Project Engineers/Manager of all significant issues in a timely manner whilst at the same time exercising judgment on how issues are to be managed. Attend and contribute to scheme progress meetings as required. Site supervision of construction activities and contract administration to ensure compliance with TI's engineering approved design and the contract quality. Complete Daily Project updates back to the Project engineers which generally includes data on personnel on site, equipment on site, equipment utilization, site photos, record of daily progress, identification of issues or potential issues, weather conditions. Assist in scheme commissioning and handover to Water Delivery. Provide Engineering support to oversee the field investigation, survey work, geotechnical, pipeline alignment walkthroughs, landowner engagement.
