Who we are
The People Division, led by the Chief People Officer (CPO), provides human resources (HR) functions for the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the department) with a clear focus on the department's most valued asset: its staff. Alongside contemporary HR functions, projects and strategies, the People Division is also responsible for:
enhancing the department's focus on safetyenterprise bargainingcultural and change managementthe department's response to Australian Public Service (APS) reforms.The Psychosocial team within the WHS Sullivan Group section provides strategic support across Parks Australia to enhance the psychological health and safety of staff. The team collaborates closely with colleagues in the People Division and across the Parks Australia Division, particularly Park Managers of the terrestrial and island parks. The team assesses psychosocial risk, offers strategic support and advice, and delivers various people and psychological health and safety projects to improve staff wellbeing outcomes.
The Job
As a Senior WHS Advisor (Psych), you will proactively support the Assistant Director (Psych) with the implementation of psychosocial risk review recommendations and other psychological health and safety programs and projects. Key activities in the role include:
Undertake project and change management activities to support the implementation of psychological health and safety strategies across Parks Australia.Contribute to the development and progression of a Critical Incident Mental Health Response Framework and associated toolkits and training.Develop and implement strategies and tools for the continuous monitoring, improvement, and evaluation of psychological health and safety projects.Develop, maintain, and update project plans and progress reports.Build strong relationships across HR and WHS functions and Parks Australia – this may include travelling to some of our parks across Australia.Assist with the coordination, development, and delivery of psychological health and safety training across Parks.Coordinate the design and maintenance of communication plans and products, i.e., intranet, newsletter articles, placemats, posters, and storyboards.Coordinate and deliver secretariat functions for the Parks Wellbeing Leadership Network and working groups across parks.Support the development and monitoring of the psychological health and safety budget, including payment of invoices and procurement activities.What we are looking for Knowledge and experience Demonstrated knowledge and experience in contemporary WHS psychosocial risk management and/or wellbeing.Strong project management knowledge and experience.Cultural competency (or ability to quickly learn) and a demonstrated capacity to work with and communicate sensitively with First Nations peoples.Skills and capabilities Excellent communication, engagement, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to tailor communications for diverse audiences.Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.The ability to undertake research and apply creative thinking techniques to generate ideas and solutions.Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills including ability to present and communicate insights to a broad audience.Strong project management skills including ability to design and implement communications strategies across the project lifecycle.The ability to take a solutions-focused approach and demonstrate initiative, innovation, and agility to achieve results.A high level of personal integrity and adherence to the department's Core 4 values, the APS Values and Code of Conduct.Desirable qualifications Relevant WHS, Organisational Psychology, HR and/or project management qualifications or experience is highly desirable.Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable.Hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle driver's licence.Eligibility and other requirements Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.Security Clearance - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
