You will be a cross-class underwriter, who will work closely with our Chief Technical Officer and National Underwriting Manager on developing and delivering new products.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a team of underwriters, fostering a collaborative and supportive environmentProvide guidance and mentorship to your team, promoting professional growthCollaborate with team members to analyse and assess risks, ensuring accurate underwriting decisionsStay updated with industry trends, regulations and best practices, and share relevant information with your teamConduct regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledgeFoster effective communication and collaboration between underwriters, brokers and other team membersImplement and improve underwriting processes and procedures to enhance team efficiencyResolve complex underwriting issues and provide support in challenging casesFoster a positive work culture based on respect, trust and accountabilityABOUT YOUMinimum of 5-7 years of experience in underwriting with at least 3 years in a leadership roleExperience in Property / ISR underwriting is essentialStrong knowledge of insurance policies, underwriting guidelines and risk assessmentConfidence in working closely with our Lloyd's binder partnersExcellent leadership and team building skillsEffective communication and interpersonal abilitiesCommitment to mentorship and professional developmentDetail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsProficiency in underwriting software and data analysis toolsThe head office of IIS is located in the beautiful Southern Highlands, an hour and a half southwest of Sydney, with an additional office situated in the Brisbane CBD. Opportunities exist in both NSW and QLD however you will need to be willing to travel to our offices on a regular basis.
