The next major water source for the Perth Integrated Water Supply System is the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant (ASDP). The stage 1 project will deliver a new 50 GL per annum seawater RO plant and the 4.9 GL per annum Eglinton groundwater scheme, with the capability to expand the seawater RO plant to 100 GL per annum.
Water Corporation has formed an alliance, Alkimos SeaWater Alliance, with Acciona and Jacobs Group to design, construct and operate the desalination plant with first water scheduled for 2028.
About the role: We currently have an exciting opportunity available to join the Water Corporation's embedded personnel within the Alkimos SeaWater Alliance undertaking one of the Senior Technical Advisor – Operations Interface roles.
As an embedded project team member in the Alliance, the role will represent Water Corporation's operations interest and provide guidance to the Alliance in understanding and implementing Water Corporation's operations and maintenance (O&M) requirements. A key driver for this role is improving Operational Integration during the design and construct phase of the project to improve the overall outcome for O&M.
What the role will involve: Represents asset management and O&M stakeholders, influencing the project team to ensure fit for purpose, lowest overall cost outcomes for all parties. Provide O&M technical liaison between the Alliance and the Corporation. Provide extensive technical advice based on inherent knowledge of operational, maintenance and asset management process, requirements, and procedures. Provide guidance for the Alliance to understand and implement Water Corporation's operations and maintenance requirements. Identify the key risks and business impacts that may arise during the project life cycle and ensure key stakeholders are informed on potential impacts, mitigation, and contingency measures. Provide Operational Integration through O&M technical input into the engineering deliverables. Examples include human factors engineering and safe isolation requirements. Key skills and experience required: This role requires practical experience in operating or maintaining water treatment assets and sound knowledge of asset management principles and practices. Tertiary or Trade level qualification in an engineering related discipline with experience in water related operational and asset management; or Experience in seawater desalination operations, maintenance, and asset management.
