You will bring exceptional stakeholder skills and demonstrated strategic land use planning experience in a regional context. You will have the ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences, and a deep understanding of the Victorian Planning System. The role: Provide advice to the public, developers and other stakeholders in relation to the provisions of the Central Goldfields Planning Scheme, Council planning policies, strategies and planning procedures.Assist the Manager in the preparation and completion of strategic studies and plans, reviews of the Planning Scheme and other strategic land use projects as required.Manage contracts and relationships with external consultants engaged to undertake strategic work for the Shire.Liaise with other sections of Council and State, Commonwealth and non-government agencies on strategic planning matters.Collaborate within the Statutory Planning team, seeking their input regarding improvements to the planning scheme, and ensure that new strategic work is implemented effectively.Collaborate with the Community Engagement team in undertaking community engagement activities related to strategic planning.Represent Council, or support Council representation, at planning panels and other forums.Prepare briefing papers and reports to Council on strategic planning matters.Technical skills: Expert working knowledge and understanding of land use planning principles, the Victoria Planning Provisions, the Planning and Environment Act and the planning scheme amendment process.Well-developed research skills that enable the analysis of complex strategic planning issues affecting the Shire with economic, social and environmental aspects.A working knowledge of computer applications, in particular the ability to use MS Office, geographic information system (GIS) software, records management systems and State Government planning portals.Excellent written communication skills with ability to present clear and precise reports, and draft planning scheme provisions in accordance with ministerial requirements.High level verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse audiences including members of the public, elected councilors and professional experts in providing good customer service.The role of Senior Strategic Planner presents an exceptional opportunity for an experienced planning professional to further develop their breadth of experience and create lasting positive impacts in an engaged regional community.
