Remuneration: $94,099.90 - $107,492.97 per annum + superannuation
Central Highlands Regional Council is committed to continuous improvement. As a result, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Safety Advisor to support our Water Utilities Team. In this newly created position, you will play a key role in promoting our safe culture, coaching and mentoring workers, and constantly striving to deliver simple and efficient safety systems. You will enjoy the human element of the role, building relationships through effective communication and promoting 'safety first' through your onsite presence.
In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:

Promoting and supporting the embedment of Council's robust safety culture within the Water Utilities Team.
Assisting with the review and development of safety documents such as Safe Operating Procedures (SOP), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Site Risk Assessments (SRA), and Council's Policies and Procedures.
Conducting frequent field-based tasks such as safety inspections, safety observations, and providing advice on best practice.
Coordinating the reporting and investigation procedures for accidents/incidents/near misses.
Supporting supervisors with return to work and suitable duties plan implementation and compliance.
Ensuring effective regulatory and statutory reporting requirements are met within time frames.
Connecting and operating consistently with the safety and wellness team within council to support the common goal of all to Start safe. Work safe. Home safe.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the operational and/or construction environment with a comprehensive knowledge of Work Health & Safety Act 2011, Regulations 2011.
Demonstrated ability and attitude to work in an operational team environment to develop and generate innovative, creative and practical solutions to achieve best practice in safe work methods.
Demonstrated facilitation and computer skills to deliver consultation for new procedures and practices.
High level disciplined knowledge of work health and safety management systems, hazard identification, and risk management techniques.
Qualifications in Work Health & Safety or related discipline.
Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers' license.
General Construction Industry Card.
