Van der Meer Consulting is a multi-disciplinary Structural and Civil engineering consultancy with offices in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle, and Sydney. Our rapidly expanding company is currently seeking a suitably qualified Senior Remedial Building Consultant to join our Sydney team.
Overview:
If you possess a strong construction background with a deep understanding of old and new building detailing and the experience to identify the cause of the issues that buildings tend to experience, there's an exciting opportunity awaiting you. Working as part of a small team, you will have the opportunity to develop holistic remedial solutions on a variety of projects. Your extensive construction experience will be comprehensive and all-encompassing with a solid understanding of all facets including structural elements, hydraulic systems, waterproofing, roof cladding, timber roof structures, and bricklaying. If you're contemplating a shift from the contracting side to become a consultant, this position could be the perfect fit for you.
The Role:
The primary functions of the role include but are not limited to:
Conduct detailed investigations of existing structures.
Prepare high-quality written reports.
Develop robust remediation and repair solutions.
Work closely with internal drafting department to deliver high-quality tender documentation.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, clients, and contractors.
Ensure projects meet the highest safety and quality standards.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
Degree Qualified (Bachelor of Engineering Civil/ Structural or Diploma of Building and Construction or similar).
Minimum 8 years remedial and/or experience gained within a consultancy environment preferred.
Proven experience in remedial investigation or structural repair.
Strong technical knowledge of materials, construction methods, and structural.
Demonstrated experience in report writing.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Confident presenting information and instilling confidence to stakeholders.
Must demonstrate initiative and be a team player.
Proven track record of working to tight deadlines and within budget.
Experience in the use of software such as Microsoft Office.
Soft skills in electronic or hand drafting.
Driver's License.
