The Biodiversity Research and Information Branch is looking for a Senior Project Officer to join the team responsible for leading the strategic development and application of biodiversity decision-support tools and ecological information products. This role will develop new ways of applying ecological data and analysis in on-ground decision making. The role will work with scientists, land managers and policy makers to help inform evidence-based investment and planning decisions, as well as reporting on outcomes for biodiversity.This position requires an ecologist who can apply problem-solving skills to a wide range of conservation problems. It requires someone who is flexible, able to interpret and communicate data and information, think intuitively, and apply time management and project management skills. The position will build and maintain effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, with an emphasis on communication of complex ideas and analyses, and managing projects at the science-policy interface.Specialist/Technical Expertise/QualificationsProven expertise in developing and enhancing fit-for-purpose spatially explicit ecological information products, models and datasets, using R and ArcGIS, for use in applied ecological management.Postgraduate qualifications (Masters or PhD) in ecology, systematic conservation planning or environmental management.This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2026.
