Project Integration Management
Develop the Project Charter ensuring sponsor buy in and sign off.
Ensure a project plan is prepared and maintained.
Direct and manage project execution.
Monitor and control project work.
Manage all change requests and integrate approved ones into the project plan.
Finalize all activities to formerly close the project or phase.
Participate or chair PIR or Retrospectives as required post project delivery
Document and conduct hand over to operations between key project personnel and key delivery personnel.
Deliver all projects using the OBS approved Synergy Methodology.
Project Scope Management
Delivering the agreed scope by delivering the mandated, defined and agreed output and outcomes required from the project.
Conduct stakeholder analysis, define and manage customer expectations both stated and unstated.
Liaise with the business units for project inputs and regularly report to the sponsor, key stakeholders and resources.
Clarify details of contract and manage project/contract variations.
Manage any changes to scope using an appropriate change process.
Seek and manage opportunities to upsell.
Ensure acceptance of project deliverables by stakeholder/customer/sponsor.
Creation and maintenance of key project documentation deliverables – RAID log, schedule / mpp in MS Project
Project Time Management
Deliver the project to the expected customer deadlines
Use a formal process to estimate times for all activities sequence them and then prepare the schedule.
Control performance to meet the deliverables according to the schedule.
Ensure that projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the quality standards as per Synergy Methodology.
Project Cost Management
Plan, allocate and manage budgets using appropriate financial trackers and tools.
Anticipate and give forewarning of any deviations from budget and deploy the appropriate recovery methods – raising PCR, risk assessment, customer and internal comms of deviation.
Control the budget within the limits of the project tolerances approved by the project sponsor.
Seek approval from the sponsor for any anticipated expenditure above the project budget.
Project Quality Management
Establish and plan quality requirements with customer and manage project to ensure compliance.
Use project health checks, reviews, PIR’s, Retrospectives and audits along with customer satisfaction surveys as a way of objectively monitoring project performance and quality.
Project Human Resources Management
Actively promote team effectiveness, morale, motivation and productivity.
Ensure the team buys in to the goals of the project and they are willing to extend themselves to meet the objectives.
Support competence development of team and of other staff (if applicable)
Manage the interface between internal resources and the customer.
Provide feedback to line managers of team member performance.
Ensure the right skilled resource is assigned and retained for the duration of the project.
Assist the new business team with level of effort estimates for upcoming works/new opportunities – using the OBS LOE template, liaising with key delivery consultants and providing a high level schedule to support the level of effort.
Project Communications Management
Actively manage stakeholders utilising appropriate techniques and accurate weekly project status report.
Conduct issue and risk management cadence [weekly/ fortnightly]
Implement a project communication strategy to inform all stakeholders and provide regular weekly reports.
Document and deliver change communications before, during and after a change is executed.
Ensure PSR’s are represented at a cadence with the customer.
Project Risk Management
Implement an effective risk management process [recording, strategy and management] for the project ensuring the team is fully engaged.
Mitigate, deflect or avoid risk threats whilst seeking to maximise risk opportunities.
Maintain project RAID records, follow risk and issue management process to completion of issue/ risk
Escalation management
Change management of project changes
Project Procurement Management
Generate procurement planning documentation for the project as required.
Work within the procurement management processes & teams defined for standard ordering and subcontracting.
Manage third party suppliers as appropriate

Ability to embrace methodology and find improved ways of doing things
Good understanding of the telecoms and IT industries.
Integrating project work with Knowledge Management concepts and principles
Effective negotiation skills
Effective communicator at all levels, internal / customer/ executive
Attention to detail
Coaching and mentoring junior team members if/as required
Strong skills in developing project schedules using Microsoft Project – MPP required
RAID management - control, reporting & resolution
Education and Experience Requirements
Degree in business, science (or other relevant area), or equivalent relevant experience
Project Management Certification ie PMI PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner one is mandatory
Synergy Practitioner Certification [internal training to be provided]
Minimum of 10 years project management experience in the teleco and/or IT industry managing external customer facing projects.
Virtual team management - matrix and geo located
Working in an international environment.
Mining experience advantageous
IP Telephony experience highly advantageous
Transition and transformation experience desirable
Network and/or Security experience essential
Agile practitioner – Scum master or Product owner experience advantageous
