We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer with a specialisation in rail systems, to contribute to a key social infrastructure project in South Australia. Reporting to the Rail Construction Manager, the Signalling Lead will ensure the effective coordination and control of elements of Rail Systems Project Delivery works for the project, through activities of technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement, and quality control. The Project McConnell Dowell and CPB Contractors, along with Design partners Mott McDonald, Arup and Aurecon have been awarded the Tram Grade Separation Projects as an Alliance, comprising of works at three main locations along the Glenelg Tram Line. The level crossings at Marion Road, Cross Road (MAC) and Morphett Road (MTX) will be replaced by tram overpasses, removing the interface with road traffic and creating new public spaces beneath. This project will improve network efficiency and safety at their locations for all users. These projects will be delivered by the Tram Grade Separation Projects Alliance (TGSPA) together with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
Key Responsibilities: Responsible for construction and installation, program, costs, industrial relations, safety, environmental and quality aspects of the signalling, operational control systems (OCS) and communications packages. Required to maintain strong interfaces with engineering and design, as well as testing and commissioning activities for all aspects of the signalling, OCS and communications packages. Interpret engineering documents and drawings for field personnel. Be responsible for work packages from tendering phase to final Quality Assurance completion and plan for defects liability period requirements. Actively and accurately define scopes of work and highlight any discrepancies through the execution of project activities. Position Requirements: Tertiary Qualifications in relevant field for the position. Specialist experience in a senior project engineer role and a working knowledge of project management. Minimum of 5 years' experience in rail systems project engineering with project management knowledge and understanding with experience in a Rail Construction / Engineering environment. Professional Engineering Membership (Engineers Australia, IRSE) desirable. Competent in planning and organising work schedules and a demonstrated ability to deliver to timelines. Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same. Strong and clear communication skills with proven ability to engage others. Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card holder. Construction Induction White Card. Unrestricted SA Driver's Licence. This role is considered a Rail Safety Worker under Rail Safety National Law. Relevant accreditation and medical assessments are required to be obtained and undertaken. This role is based in the project office, Adelaide CBD. From early 2025 the role will relocate to the project site (Metro - South of Adelaide CBD), to support the project operations team in a construction environment. A competitive salary, commensurate with this key role, will be offered to the successful candidate. This position is based in Adelaide, South Australia. Applicants must be SA based or willing to relocate at their own expense. We are unable to consider interstate based or FIFO applications.
