Position Overview: (Open to candidates looking to relocate - must hold full working rights in Australia)
As a Senior Power System Engineer your main duties involve support the connection team with early stage development, developing high quality connection application packages, leading GPS meetings with NSPs and AEMO.
Key Responsibilities: Analyse transmission network data: Preliminary analysis of transmission network data to assess connection locations and capacity for early-stage developments.Develop Connection Application package: Develop high quality Connection Application package in compliance with AEMO and NSP requirements.Communicate with NSPs and AEMO: Lead the communications and GPS meetings with NSPs and AEMO and negotiate on applicable performance standards.Collaborate with internal teams: Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers to meet grid connection application requirements. Offer grid connection support to other GRS teams, helping them understand the requirements and timeframes associated with grid connection.Communicate with external stakeholders: Establish and maintain communications with external stakeholders such as Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), network service providers, OEM, regulatory bodies, and technical consultants throughout the grid connection process.Lead generator registration: Take the lead in generator registration and assess the impacts of market rule changes.Provide technical guidance for design inputs: Provide technical guidance for design inputs concerning grid connection, substation, and collector network aspects of projects.Assist operations team: Assist the operations team in managing plant changeovers and resolving technical non-conformances and other issues.Develop scope-of-work documents: Develop scope-of-work documents and participate in the review and selection of Generator Performance Standard (GPS) and Connection Application (CA) consultants.Requirements: Require a minimum of two (3) years of professional experience, preferably in a comparable role within the energy sector.Power System Modelling experience: PSSE, PSCAD and Power FactoryExperience in Grid ConnectionStrong understanding of AEMO grid connection processes, SLDs, operating and performance standardsIn-depth understanding of the National Electricity Market and the National Electricity Rules.Excellent communication skills for liaising with both internal and external clients, along with effective negotiation and influencing abilities.Competitive salary and benefits package.Hybrid work from home modelOpportunities for professional development and career advancement.Collaborative and supportive work environmentHow to Apply: If you are a talented and experienced Senior Power System Engineer, we encourage you to apply.
