This role is an opportunity to grow your strategic policy and engagement skills to help lead the development and implementation of nation leading workforce policy to support Queensland industries, employers, communities, and individuals. If you have strategic policy, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills and experience, this role is an opportunity to be at the forefront of developing workforce policy responses, including whole-of-government responses, to strengthen Queensland's workforce, address workforce challenges and support secure job opportunities for Queenslanders.
Working with the Workforce Strategy team, you will be in a high performing team that coordinates a range of policy matters related to workforce and employment, including whole-of-government policy activities and advocacy on national workforce and employment policy issues. A current priority of the team is leading and coordinating implementation of Good people. Good jobs: Queensland Workforce Strategy 2022-2032, which is a nation leading whole-of-government workforce strategy. You will have a clear role in supporting coordination and implementation of the strategy and the delivery of its multi-year action plans.
About the role
As the Senior Policy Officer, you will:

Participate in and/or coordinate aspects of research, analysis of strategic policy issues and development of strategic advice.Participate in and/or coordinate aspects of the preparation of strategic policy documentation.Participate in and/or coordinate aspects of projects and teams, to review, inform and successfully progress innovative and effective policy options, proposals and solutions through research, policy analysis and data analysis.Work collaboratively across DESBT and other Queensland Government agencies to coordinate information and intelligence gathering, undertake reporting and facilitate communication and engagement activities.Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who can:

Apply sound knowledge of the principles and practices underpinning policy development and implementation across complex matters to ensure policy meets government priorities and achieves departmental goals and objectives.Demonstrate high level capacity to work effectively under pressure, handle competing priorities and meet externally imposed deadlines either independently or as a member of a team.Consult and share information and ensure you and others are kept informed and up to date on relevant portfolio policy matters.Demonstrate high level writing, research and analysis skills, with a proven ability to initiate, monitor and report on complex projects within set timeframes.Use your well-developed communication, consultation and negotiation skills with a demonstrated capacity to interact with a wide variety of key stakeholders.How to apply
