Immediate Start.Melbourne CBD location/Working from Home Arrangement.About the roleGovernment department seeks an experienced Senior Policy Officer to join them on a short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 3 months based in Melbourne CBD with an immediate start.
As the Senior Policy Officer, you will work collaboratively across the division to lead and implement new policy, regulatory reform, and development of programs.
As the Senior Policy Officer, you will analyze and develop policy options, develop regulatory reform proposals, engage with cross-portfolio and sector stakeholders, and prepare clear and accurate written material for decision-makers and for public consultation.
Key ResponsibilitiesYour key tasks and responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality and timely advice on the range of policy issues and current regulations, presenting information to decision-makers in ways that are direct, compelling, and influential.Initiating, managing, and maintaining close liaison and effective relationships with senior stakeholders including providing authoritative advice.Preparing, overseeing, and quality assuring briefs and correspondence on a range of complex and/or sensitive issues.Proactively leading consultation within the department, other Victorian/Commonwealth government agencies, industry, businesses, and the wider community.Providing timely and accurate advice to management and key stakeholders across Government on policy, procedures, and operational issues.Maintaining awareness of relevant trends and issues within the State, in other States, and overseas.Key Selection CriteriaThe skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:
Experience in public sector policy development, regulatory reform, and program design.Political awareness - ideally worked in some sort of ministerial advisor position.Knowledge of government services and efficiency, particularly as it relates to the consumer sector.Relevant tertiary qualifications such as public policy, economics, engineering, science, or law.Ability to work collaboratively, build relationships, and communicate with influence.How to apply?Please apply online using the appropriate link below forwarding a copy of your cover letter and resume highlighting your public policy development experience, your government and ministerial advisory experience, and your suitability for the role.
