Assistant Director, Strategic Registrations Review
Full-time Permanent Details: ACT Heritage assists in the recognition, protection, conservation and celebration of the ACT's unique heritage places and objects. In doing so, ACT Heritage ensures the identification, assessment, conservation and promotion of heritage places and objects for present and future generations. Additionally, ACT Heritage coordinates the annual Canberra and Region Heritage Festival and administers the annual funding of the ACT Heritage Grants Program.
The Assistant Director, Strategic Registrations Review reports to the Director, Registrations and Engagement and will work closely with the ACT Heritage Council.
The Heritage Amendment Bill 2024 commenced on 10 July 2024. The amendments include significant new provisions to review nominations to the ACT Heritage Register. Initially, the Assistant Director will implement a strategic review of existing nominations to the Register and make recommendations to the Heritage Council with actions relating to the new heritage amendments. The position will manage the implementation of an action plan approved by Council.
The Assistant Director will later implement a strategic process to review current registrations to ensure listing information reflects the current statutory criteria for heritage significance.
In undertaking these review activities, this role will also be responsible for developing and implementing a continuous system of monitoring and review for the ACT Heritage Register.
