It services children from metropolitan and regional areas of Victoria. The Unit has 12 beds, and is based at the Austin Hospital. The Unit admits children aged 12 and under for assessment and treatment. Children are often admitted to the Unit with their parent/carer and/or further family (i.e. siblings).
These children may be experiencing emotional, behavioural and/or social difficulties and have usually received some outpatient treatment. A high proportion of the children on the Unit are admitted under a planned circumstance for an admission usually for a number of weeks (often utilising weekend leave). The Unit does, however, also admit children under crisis circumstances for short periods.
About the role Contribute to the development of education, professional development and training programs for Occupational therapists inclusive of graduate & early career Occupational Therapists.Develop resources that support the education and training element of the program.Design, develop and implement a robust student clinical placement program.Ensure appropriate, contemporary learning & development strategies are implemented.Support wellbeing and resilience of the occupational therapy workforce through supervision, peer reflection & other support frameworks.About you As the Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You'll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
