About the role We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer Product Developer with a passion for entrepreneurship and design, and a desire to create great new products and services and get them to market.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer takes the role of Senior Product Developer in IDE product development projects.
The Senior Product Developer is responsible for executing technical developments in a project as directed by the Product Lead.
They assist the Product Lead in systems engineering tasks and in guiding junior team members.
A Senior Mechanical Engineer will be assigned to 1-5 projects at any one time, working on various medical device or IVD products at different stages of development from concept exploration to design transfer and sustaining.
Teams may comprise of many disciplines from clinical to designers to software and electrical engineers and commercial specialists.
Technical Proficiency – Work with the Product Lead to define the system, lead mechanical engineering design of the system, lead assigned sub-system design streams.
Scope of design work spans the entirety of product development lifecycle -> insights gathering, needs identification, requirements, concepting, detailed design, verification / validation.
Time Management – gives input to Product Lead and Project Lead to plan project activities, makes appropriate commitments to tasks with respect to uncertainty, quality, time and budget, and pro-actively manages expectations to be accountable to commitments made.
Risk Management – pro-actively provide input to the Product Lead to identify and manage product risk, pro-actively provide input to the Project Lead to identify and manage project risk Technical Execution – understands the appropriate level of quality for assigned activities/tasks defined by the Product Lead.
Conducts assigned activities/tasks following prescribed methods seeking appropriate review and supervision to achieve appropriate quality.
Reviews & Approvals – As Originator, co-ordinates and completes effective reviews of assigned Output or Outcomes.
About you A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other appropriate technical discipline.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams in an R&D environment.
Experience in applying sound engineering methods to design of mechanical systems (static, dynamic, fluid), and an ability to communicate intent, approach and value to others.
Experience working in compliance with Quality Management Systems (ISO9001, ISO13485, GMP or similar) in regulated industry (Medical Device preferred).
