This role sits within the CBA Retail Banking Services (RBS) Strategy function, which is accountable for developing the strategic roadmap for the Retail Bank, managing investment, spend and creating partnerships to broaden the bank's retail footprint.
The strategy team oversees the ongoing development of the RBS' strategy by advising and facilitating RBS leadership team discussions, preparing materials for the CBA Executive Leadership Team and the Board, and by collaborating on projects with leaders across the Retail Bank and the Group. This includes driving the direction of the RBS strategy and solving targeted business problems.
Do work that matters:
The Senior Manager role will report directly to the Head of Strategy, RBS. The successful candidate will be leading and contributing to multiple strategic and design projects within RBS (e.g. defining the retail bank's strategy and vision, determining how CBA should respond to market activity, and being abreast of key initiatives that being delivered within RBS). There will be direct reports and part of this role is to support junior team members with their career development.
Key responsibilities include:
Working closely with other strategic project teams across RBS to collaboratively achieve aligned goals.
Engaging other teams across Retail and the Group to keep abreast of their strategic agenda and be aware of interdependencies
Taking ownership of work streams/ projects end to end, and independently manage deliverables.
Identifying roadblocks or dependencies, which could impact specific work stream / projects and resolve/ escalate to your manager as required.
Contributing to formal papers for both the CBA Board and Retail Leadership Team
Analysing information and structure it clearly and concisely for stakeholders to understand and make informed decisions
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
At least 3-4 years business experience within Financial Services
Bachelor degree in business, economics, science, design, engineering, psychology or similar fields
Consulting experience with a top tier firm OR Strategy experience within a Financial Services firm would be highly regarded
Solid understanding of the Retail Banking industry
Ability to project manage, work independently and manage upwards
Excellent strategic thinking skills, including a structured approach to problem solving
Experience within product advantageous
