About QIMR Berghofer:
QIMR Berghofer is a world-leading translational medical research institute focused on improving health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies, specifically in the areas of Cancer, Infection and Inflammation, Brain and Mental Health, and Population Health. Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.
About People and Culture:
The People & Culture Department is responsible for the Institute's HR Strategy & Development, HR Operations, Payroll, and Safety & Wellbeing. Within People & Culture, the HR Operations team coordinates best practice HR activities on a day to day basis while ensuring high quality service delivery. Incorporating organisational design, recruitment, performance management, and employee relations, HR Operations is at the heart of an employee's journey at the Institute.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager will provide expert workplace relations services to the organisation, along with coaching and capability building for leaders, managers and members of the People and Culture team on the approach to and resolution of workplace relations, case management and industrial compliance matters.
You will be responsible for the leadership and implementation of a strategic approach to complex and specialised workplace relations issues, strategies and risk minimisation for the Institute. This position is integral to driving an integrated employee relations and HR compliance and governance strategy encompassing industrial, policy and legislative compliance, HR operations and payroll governance, and specialist workplace relations and employee case management expertise.
About you:
You will have tertiary qualifications in an area such as Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Employment Law, or other related fields. You will require a deep knowledge of employment legislation including but not limited to the Fair Work Act, bullying and discrimination legislation, and WHS legislation with expert knowledge and skills in contemporary industrial relations, negotiation and bargaining strategies, and human resources principles and practices.
Extensive experience in the conduct of workplace investigations and case management, and the dispute resolution process for industrial instruments and industrial matters is essential.
You will bring strong relationship management and influencing skills, with excellent communication, consulting, negotiation and facilitation skills to this role. Your management, leadership and team building expertise will be second to none.

Remuneration:
This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity to cover a period of parental leave for 12 months. A part-time option of 0.8FTE may be considered. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant including a generous salary packaging scheme and superannuation.
