The OpportunityThe Senior Legal Counsel role is responsible for managing and coordinating all Commercial and Corporate legal matters in relation to VicGrid as it transitions from being an Administrative Office to a State Business Corporation.

What you will deliverYou will provide support to the General Counsel to ensure effective and efficient provision of high-quality legal advice and services on all Corporate and Commercial aspects of the evolving VicGrid operations, functions and activities.You will provide expert legal procurement, risk management and contracting advice and interface with VicGrid's external legal advisors to ensure a consistent and agreed approach is taken on legal positions which support VicGrid's expectations.You will help to build a team which is responsible for Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, Orders in Parliament and VicGrid's compliance with privacy and data protection laws.What you will bringYou will be admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Victoria or a similar jurisdiction within Australia preferably with 10+ years PQE in a law firm and/or in-house.You will have demonstrated ability to provide advice and guidance on legal, regulatory and contractual issues on a wide range of matters.You will be flexible and adaptable and enjoy a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.Other relevant information:If you are a current Victorian Public Service (VPS) employee, employed on an ongoing, fixed term or casual basis you are eligible to apply for this role.
