Joining our growing team of highly experienced lawyers in providing proactive, commercially focused and user-friendly legal advice. This isn't just any legal role—it's an opportunity to be at the forefront of the renewable energy transition for Queensland.
As our
Senior Legal Counsel , you will:
Provide or procure legal advice connected to project development and delivery, with an understanding or ability to understand construction law nuances, project development and delivery intricacies, governance protocols and regulatory landscapes
Identify, manage and mitigate commercial and legal risk while ensuring the meeting of internal customer requirements including timeliness, practicality, and cost-effectiveness
Stay informed of legislative, litigation/regulatory and commercial developments, provide insights on significant matters
Liaise with senior leaders, managers, employees within the corporation, external legal advisers, electricity industry entities, regulatory bodies, Government agencies and external contacts such as local government bodies and contractors as needed

What you'll bring:
Bachelor of Laws with significant post-admission experience and a current Queensland Law Society practising certificate
You will have a robust and deep background in commercial law and contracting, whether in an in-house role or as a senior practitioner in a legal practice. Experience in the energy sector or major infrastructure projects, particularly in linear infrastructure, would be a significant advantage for this role. However, if you bring a different but equally compelling infrastructure or major project background, we'd love to hear about it.
Additionally, your familiarity with major project negotiation and post-execution project delivery would add unparalleled value to our team's capabilities. Previous engagements with Tier 1 Contractors and/or the capacity to navigate complex legal landscapes would also be advantageous.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication and stakeholder management skills and experience collaborating with project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
