The University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement 2017-2021 will apply to a successful candidate’s employment at the University.The University recently temporarily varied its Enterprise Agreement. Please be advised that the salary range, along with other conditions associated with this position, may change in accordance with the variation to the Enterprise Agreement.

Fixed-term position for 3 years, convertible to continuing position subject to performance and funding availability.

The School of Biological Sciences seeks to appoint an emerging research leader in molecular and cell biology, with experience in undergraduate learning and teaching. The appointee will be expected to establish and maintain a dynamic research program in their discipline and contribute to interdisciplinary research within the Department of Molecular and Biomedical Sciences and wider academic community. The appointee will also assume the primary responsibility for coordination, curriculum design and delivery of the Biotechnology Program at Haide College (the University of Adelaide’s Joint Education Institution based in Qingdao, China, in partnership with Ocean University of China). They will introduce innovative approaches to teaching at all undergraduate levels and deliver intensive mode teaching offshore for at least two, three-week periods each year. Travel to China to teach at Haide College is a requirement of this role.

To be successful you will need:

A PhD or equivalent in biological sciences.
Demonstrated research excellence in molecular and cell biology, with a sustained publication record in highly regarded scientific journals.
Demonstrated ability to lead an independent research program.

Experience in the delivery of transdisciplinary biotechnology courses (animal and plant biochemistry, cell biology and/or molecular biology) at the undergraduate-level.

Strong organisational, intercultural and interpersonal skills.
