AEMO's System Design division is responsible for planning the power system in the context of unprecedented transformation.
The rapid transition to renewable energy generation and electrification of many sectors (transport, industry etc) has seen sharp rises in proposed transmission connection projects.
Victorian Network Services & Delivery is a Department within AEMO's System Design Division with the key objective to delivery Victorian electricity transmission projects in the long-term interests of consumers.
Critical to the achievement of this objective is program management to support the development and implementation of infrastructure projects to meet those needs (including procurement processes and contract management).
About the role This role will support the Specialist – Land, Planning and Environment to manage the delivery of land access and easement/land acquisition for the Western Renewables Link (WRL) Project to be undertaken by AEMO's delivery partner.
The WRL is a proposed 190 km overhead 500 kV high-voltage transmission line between Bulgana, in western Victoria, and Sydenham in Melbourne's north-west.
The project is critical infrastructure required to unlock the renewable potential of western Victoria as a key renewable energy zone and will help to deliver clean and affordable energy to all Victorians.
What you will be doing Work closely with AEMO's delivery partner to develop and refine land access and easement acquisition plans and strategies to ensure the success of the WRL project.
Evaluate proposed land access and acquisition activities against project delivery plans to ensure interdependent activities are understood and schedule risks are identified and communicated to the project team.
Provide governance over land access activities undertaken by AEMO's delivery partner to ensure that access to land is undertaken in-line with industry best-practice.
Provide oversight of easement acquisition negotiations to be undertaken by AEMO's delivery partner to ensure that interests in land are obtained within a timely manner.
Ensure all risks associated with land access and easement acquisition are promptly identified and effectively communicated to the project team.
Work with and coordinate activities with other WRL streams (Design, Planning and Environment and Stakeholder) to meet quality, cost and time requirements.
Assist in evaluating the project and provide feedback to key stakeholders on benefits achieved and opportunities for improvement as part of driving continuous improvement across the business.
Support the facilitation of multi-organisational working groups to ensure inputs from other relevant organisations and streams within AEMO are reflected within land access and acquisition plans.
The successful incumbent possess high emotional intelligence, maturity, strong relationship building and influencing skills coupled with the resilience to improve underperforming processes and overcome barriers.
You will have experience in identifying and managing project risks, with a keen ability to pinpoint key issues.
This position will transfer to VicGrid in 12-18 months and be part of a growing infrastructure development and delivery organisation, with a pipeline of work that extends beyond 2050.

What you will bring to the role Education/Requirements Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as valuation, project management, business or law preferred.
Drivers licence required.
Experience and Knowledge Strong land assembly experience Solid experience obtaining land access and undertaking easement/land acquisition for infrastructure projects involving specialised land/environmental, stakeholder engagement and commercial components across organisation departments and external stakeholders.
Strong understanding of standard commercial principles/strategies for large infrastructure projects.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders within and across project teams.
Prior experience working with jurisdictional stakeholders (e.g.
State/Federal bodies).
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving capability.
Ability to prepare and deliver high quality communications suitable for management and external stakeholders (both written and verbal).
Flexible approach to project delivery to accommodate industry, regulatory and policy changes.
Previous experience in the transmission electricity industry highly regarded.
