The position contributes to the efficient operation of the Office of the Ombudsman by assisting in the discharge of the Ombudsman's responsibilities under the Right to Information Act 2009 including:• reviewing decisions of public authorities;• providing advice to public authorities or Ministers on the operation of the Act; and• issuing and maintaining guidelines and a manual related to the operation of the Act.

Hours per fortnight 73.50 hours per fortnight- flexible options available.
Duties Conduct reviews under the Right to Information Act 2009. This will include collating and reviewing documents and other evidence and, at times, high-level negotiations with senior managers and officials of public authorities. Prepare written decisions in relation to applications for external review of decisions under the Right to Information Act 2009, and assist and advise other officers with the preparation of such decisions. Decisions are published at www.ombudsman.tas.gov.au/right-to-information which also includes other information about Right to Information (RTI). Provide high quality internal and external advice, verbally and in writing, in accordance with the Ombudsman's responsibilities under the Right to Information Act 2009. Deliver Right to Information training and educational programs. Assist in enhancing the public profile of the Office of the Ombudsman, including developing and maintaining networks and assisting in the implementation of outreach programs. Pre-employment Checks The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
