The Opportunity
CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health and Safety team on a permanent 8/6 roster, FIFO ex Perth. Reporting to the Superintendent - Health and Safety, this role is to support the Health & Safety Superintendent by implementing and managing robust safety management systems. The role requires ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and company requirements.
In this role you'll be responsible for:
Communicating the company's procedures, standards, and policies, including the Mine Safety Management System (MSMS), and ensure communication to departments and contractors as appropriate.
Ensuring the contractors and departments comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
Providing advice and support to supervisors and workers on all health and safety matters.
Offering guidance and assistance to Health & Safety representatives to enhance their effectiveness in the workplace.
Designing and delivering safety education and awareness programs to build a strong safety culture across the site.
Promoting a proactive safety culture by encouraging worker engagement, participation in safety initiatives, and open communication on health and safety matters.
Conducting workplace inspections, safety interactions, and hazard observations in line with KPIs.
Facilitating risk assessments, including Job Hazard Environmental Analysis (JHEA) and Task-Based Risk Assessments (TBRA), ensuring they align with operational needs.
Investigating workplace incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted and corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
Providing assistance and guidance in the investigation of incidents, ensuring causal factors are identified and all necessary follow-up actions are completed.
Successful applicant will have:
A current WA Manual Drivers Licence is essential.
Minimum of 5 – 10 years mining/resource industry experience in a leadership capacity.
Experience in the management of H&S systems within Australia.
Advanced Diploma in Work Health & Safety or equivalent.
Working and practical knowledge of the WA WHSA, WHSMR, and applicable Australian Standards, and Codes of Practice.
Strong leadership, organisational, presentation, report writing and communication skills.
Ability to conduct Audits, Investigations, and Workplace Inspections.
Experience in incident investigations and auditing.
Ability to manage and develop high performing teams.
