We seek an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our client's dynamic Finance Team.
This role assists the Financial Controller in ensuring accurate and timely accounting and tax processes. Key responsibilities include helping compile and analyze statutory and regulatory accounts, reviewing the work and reconciliations of junior staff, and ensuring compliance with applicable taxation legislation, including FBT, GST, and Income Tax.
In this role, you will:
Oversee compliance with evolving tax regulations, manage the income tax process, and lead the annual FBT return process. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to tax legislation, prepare relevant schedules, and coordinate with external consultants for year-end calculations and tax return preparation.
Manage the Group's tax policies and frameworks, serve as secretary for the Tax Committee, and maintain the tax risk register, reporting quarterly to the Audit Committee. Supervise monthly tax-related obligations, including GST claims and income tax instalments, by reviewing the work of junior staff.
Provide oversight of the Payables Process, review balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure proper journal entries. Oversee the Fixed Asset Register to ensure accurate maintenance and reconciliation by the accounting team.
As needed, assist with external compliance and regulatory reporting to government bodies. Collaborate with team members to prepare the annual financial report, verifying input from stakeholders and working closely with external auditors.
About you:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience in a financial institution or corporate environment is required. Candidates should be ACA or CPA qualified and possess strong knowledge of accounting systems, particularly TechnologyOne.
Experience with departmental procedures, Business Planning Guidelines, the Corporations Act, GST legislation, Income Tax legislation, FBTAA, Australian Accounting Standards, Banking Law & Practices, and Board Policies. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office is essential.
