About the role The Onboarding and Connections Group manages AEMO's end-to-end process for connecting and registering generators into the National Electricity Market, with more than 160 GW of new generation to connect in the next 30 years. As Engineer/Senior Engineer reporting to the Manager - Commissioning, you will be instrumental in connecting a range of technologies, including onshore wind, offshore wind, hydro and solar generation; battery and storage systems, and hydrogen plants. This role can be based across all states.
What you will be doing Manage the commissioning process of multiple renewable projects to ensure they full operational capacity. Advocate for regulatory changes to acknowledge and support the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects into the Australian electricity market. Provide expert technical advice and make informed technical decisions, employing constructive and open problem-solving approaches across areas of performance standard assessment, power system stability, system strength remediation, registration and commissioning. Create a unified vision and framework for integrating diverse generation and storage technologies. What you will bring to the role Extensive experience in commissioning renewable projects. A wealth of experience in R2 compliance requirement and R2 model validation. Significant experience in Hold point testing/witnessing of various generator systems and plants. Knowledge of the electricity industry, NEM dispatch process, generator behaviour and network constraints. Proven experience in managing the generator commissioning process, with robust skills in assessing and solving generator and power system performance issues.
