The role We're seeking two experienced professionals to join our Civil & Water Engineering Teams in Sydney and Melbourne . As a Senior Engineer in either location, you'll be responsible for devising innovative engineering designs and overseeing their construction, from initial planning through to commissioning, handover, and implementation review. You'll work with a team that sets the benchmark, redefines possibilities, embraces innovation and exceeds expectations.
Role specifics Management and delivery of key projects including managing clients, staff and sub-consultants. Regular reporting and liaison to the Team Leader – Civil and Water Engineering and project managers. Attend internal weekly project meetings to report on the progress of the projects. Take instructions from the Team Leader and other assigned senior staff. Advise on operational improvements and manage quality control of outputs. Ensure activities comply with organisational requirements for quality management, legal stipulations, and general duty of care. Design civil and water works including sewer, water and stormwater infrastructure for all types of developments including transport, residential, commercial and industrial. Brief CAD and design staff on the project requirements and ensure that the drafted design is fit for purpose. Interrogate design solutions to ensure full compliance with codes, standards and project briefs. Facilitate co-ordination meetings and resolve design issues between the relevant design team members. Write concise project communication and design reports. Assist in the financial management of projects including forecasting, invoicing and monitoring costs. Utilise company platforms including Confluence, Trakstar and Synergy. Mentor staff in a constructive way by providing feedback to develop skill sets. Work within the project design budget/programme and advise the director if there is a risk of not meeting the budget targets. Attend site inspections, review contractors work and prepare site inspection reports. Continue to further educate and attend training sessions as required. About You As a Senior Engineer, Civil & Stormwater, you bring solid current and relevant experience, strong project management skills, and thorough technical expertise.
Ideal Skills & Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or equivalent. At least 15 years' post graduate experience. Registered as a professional engineer on the National Engineer Register (CPEng / NER). Minimum eligibility for registration as a C2 designer as per the Sydney Water competency standards. Sound knowledge of engineering principles and ability to propose design solutions for various client needs. Advanced capabilities in engineering software including AutoCAD, 3D terrain modelling software (12D or AutoCAD Civil 3D); Stormwater Management design software including DRAINS & MUSIC. Proven experience in road design including pavement profile design (flexible and rigid pavements). Experience in delivering detailed designs and construction documentation including managing a design team. Recognised as a team player with strong organisational skills and clear communication. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with capability to attend client meetings independently including coordination with other consultants and responses to contractor RFIs. Thorough understanding of and experience with relevant Australian Standards / Codes to undertake Quality Assurance reviews of proposed designs. Solid knowledge, skills and experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve by accurately evaluating various data sources and making informed decisions. Solid project management skills, capable of delivering within time, cost, and quality parameters. Ability to build and leverage effective relationships.
