The Senior Director will oversee the teams responsible for all aspects of the projects relating to the design, development and delivery on behalf of multiple public sector agencies and institutions and be required to establish strong relationships with key project partners, commercial entities and external stakeholders and communicate at the highest levels of government in highly complex and technical environments.This is your opportunity to make an impact, delivering outcomes that will benefit the Victorian Community now and into the future. Please note that this is a 5-year executive contract engagement.Provide expert policy and strategic advice to senior management, ministers and partner organisations leadership bodies.Oversee the management of multidisciplinary project teams to ensure project objectives are completed within quality, cost, and time limitations in accordance with government policies and objectives.Manage the performance and expectations of team members, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver sound project outcomes.Implement and ensure continued robust governance across the individual capital projects to ensure best-for-project decision making.Provide strong leadership across the project teams in the implementation of organisational change and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and striving for best practice systems, behaviours and practices.Proactively identify and manage issues that have critical consequences for the project.Work collaboratively with senior managers, clients, contractors, and other key stakeholders to drive expected outcomes for government.Oversee the application of quality systems to effectively monitor project performance.Build and maintain across government and industry relationships to ensure a broader understanding of industry trends and challenges and government policy objectives.Contribute to the broader Development Victoria Leadership Team in the development of organisation-wide strategies, budgets, policies and culture initiatives to ensure the achievement of organisational goals and financial objectives.Identify and manage learning, development, and training opportunities for employees in the division to address development needs and improve employee skill levels.Contribute to the succession plan for the division in order to achieve effective short term organisational design and provide career development opportunities for employees.Monitor and assess performance of direct reports regularly (including performance appraisal) to provide ongoing feedback and support the progression against their individual development needs.Promote and represent Development Victoria as a market leader in the delivery of complex civic infrastructure projects.Desired Skills and ExperienceAbout YouThe role requires a candidate with a proven track record in dynamic and inspiring team leadership and managing complex and innovative infrastructure projects.This will require:Tertiary degree or higher qualification in property, construction, architecture, design, engineering, project management or related fields will be highly regarded.Extensive knowledge of and experience in the delivery of significant civic or commercial construction, infrastructure, or property development projects, with a strong technical expertise in all aspects of the design, development and delivery of major projects including demonstrated commercial acumen.Proven people leader skills able to demonstrate strong experience leading high performing and engaged cultures across diverse project teams. The position requires significant stakeholder management experience, including a strong ability to resolve competing priorities, manage resource dependencies, and work with senior leaders to deliver strategic outcomes.A thorough understanding of major construction procurement, financial management, contracts and the relationship between planning, design and construction, preferably working within a government or client-side environment on built form or civic infrastructure projects.You are committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and striving for best practice systems, behaviours and practices.A passionate supporter of driving a safety-first culture, including being a visible in driving health, safety and wellbeing across the teams and the business more broadly integrating it into every aspect of their work.
