About the Role McConnell Dowell has a long history of delivering creative construction solutions across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and South East Asia. We are seeking an experienced temporary works Senior Design Engineer with a passion for developing innovative engineering solutions to support tenders and projects across our operational footprint. The position can be based in any of our regional or business unit head offices.
Working as part of our Group Engineering team, you will:
Work closely with tender, project, plant, and fabrication teams to develop innovative methods and temporary works solutions across all disciplines of construction.
Undertake and/or oversee engineering and design activities to a high technical standard to enable the safe and timely deployment of temporary works solutions.
Apply your engineering knowledge and experience to overcome out-of-the-box challenges.
Gain an understanding of the operational needs of the business and support with engineering solutions and design activities required.
Assist and oversee outsourcing of engineering services related to the methods and temporary works solutions.
Actively engage in the strategic training, development, and support of operational project teams in the management and delivery of engineering activities.
Support knowledge building activities including other construction engineers and design personnel across the business.
Attend project sites to support the implementation of engineering solutions.
Be a champion of best practice and actively identify substandard practices and support in development and implementation of solutions.
About You To be considered for this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction with significant and recent exposure design and engineering of temporary works.
Demonstrated capability in development of innovative concepts for solutions to technical, complex issues.
Competent understanding of Australian and International codes and standards.
Self-sufficient, requiring minimal supervision with focus on pragmatic and technically sound and safe design.
Strong oral and written presentation ability linked with sound relationship and integrity record.
Lead, organise and motivate others.
Competent in use of relevant design and modelling software.
