Job Description The role act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding cost management services.
To build and maintain strong client relationships to secure new business opportunities and ensure client satisfaction.
Utilise extensive knowledge in the data centre sector or equivalent to provide expert cost advice and innovative solutions.
Ensure all estimates are accurate and comprehensive, reflecting current market conditions and technological advancements.
Provide leadership and direction to the cost management team, coordinating efforts to deliver comprehensive cost plans, estimates, and reports.
Ensure that the team's work aligns with overall project objectives and timelines.
Develop detailed cost plans and budgets at all stages of the project, from initial feasibility through to completion.
Implement effective cost control measures to track actual expenditures against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Identify and assess cost risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
Regularly review and update risk registers and ensure that appropriate contingencies are in place.
Lead value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or performance.
Collaborate with design teams to optimize cost efficiency and practicality.
Act as the point of contact for clients on all cost-related matters.
Provide clear and concise updates on cost status, forecasts, and potential issues.
Build strong client relationships to ensure client satisfaction and project success.
Ensure the accuracy and reliability of all cost estimates and reports.
Collaborate with project managers, design teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of cost management into the overall project plan.
Facilitate effective communication and coordination among all parties.
Prepare and present detailed cost reports, including budget updates, cost forecasts, and variance analyses, to project stakeholders and senior management.
Ensure all cost documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.
Mentor and develop junior cost managers and other team members, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their professional skills and knowledge.
Overseeing and preparation of detailed cost estimates and budgets for all components of construction projects.
Ensure all cost plans are robust, realistic, and align with project objectives.
Identify potential cost risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
Ensure that all risk management processes are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
Implement quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of cost estimates.
Conduct regular reviews and audits to maintain high standards of cost management practices.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of cost management into overall project plans.
Facilitate communication and collaboration across different disciplines.
Qualifications Recognised bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
A relevant professional qualification (e.g., MRICS, AIQS) is highly desirable.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in cost management, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects.
Experience in MEP cost management highly desirable.
Data centre, large mission critical projects or equivalent experience is a must.
Australian citizenship desirable but not a must.
Proficiency in cost estimation software such as CostX, or similar.
Strong understanding of first principle estimating techniques and current market rates for CSA and MEP.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret complex design documents and translate them into accurate cost estimates.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to present cost data clearly and concisely to clients and stakeholders.
Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
Demonstrates a proactive approach and takes initiative in driving projects forward.
High attention to detail, ensuring that all cost estimates are precise and comprehensive.
Committed to understanding and meeting the needs of clients.
Builds strong relationships and delivers excellent customer service.
