About the Centre

Phillip Island Leisure Centre is owned by Bass Coast and managed by YMCA Victoria. As a YMCA community centre, we understand the needs of our members and visitors. We work with a number of community, sports and government bodies to offer opportunities for all our participants. YMCA is the leader in community and recreation facility management. We aim to provide the best in community care and services.

Key Elements of the Role

The Senior Coordinator is an integral part of the facility leadership team.

Senior Coordinators will manage and lead teams of employees in assigned areas and ensure that the delivery of the programs and services meets agreed standards. They will lead, inspire, and motivate teams through clear and achievable team goals and ensure high standards of implementation of Policies and Procedures.

Senior Coordinators assist the Manager by working as part of the Manager on the Duty roster, where they provide support to customers and staff across all areas of the facility and may act as a delegate or deputy of the Manager.

Selection Criteria

Knowledge and Experience

Leadership experience – minimum 2 years

Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent - desirable

Sport and Recreation and/or Facility Operations experience - desirable

Qualification in fitness, exercise physiology or recreation desirable

Mandatory Pre-Requisite Qualifications

Current Working with Children Card

HLCPR201A Perform CPR

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

a national criminal history check

an international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas

holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws

ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)

Two reference checks

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA
