Senior Contracts Administrator / Commercial ManagerAustrak is the Australian Industry leader in the manufacture and sale of pre-stressed concrete railway sleepers with four factories operating in Victoria, NSW and Queensland servicing major government and blue chip customers around Australia.Austrak is owned by German parent company Vossloh, who are a global leader in Rail Infrastructure Products and Services and who operate two other business units within Australia in Victoria and Brisbane. For our location in Australia, we are looking for a Senior Contracts Administrator / Commercial Manager to be based in Brisbane.About the roleThis is a job share position, offering part-time hours at three days per week. This role is ideal for individuals seeking a balanced work arrangement.Reporting to the Managing Director, the purpose of the role is to work on contractual (customer and suppliers) obligations, tendering, variation/EOT assessment, assisting contract negotiations and working with our remote based projects in manufacturing, ensuring we are managing risk, working strategically and driving commercial outcomes. Also to manage strategic and commercial procurement activities for manufacturing sites. Pre and post award contract administration. Responsibilities of the role are, but are not limited to:Providing advice and guidance to the Managing Director, Business Development team, and greater Operations team on contract conditions and documentation for customer and supply contracts.Assist the business in identifying, assessing and managing or resolving commercial and financial risks against contractual obligations.Manage customer and supplier variations and solve commercial problems that may arise from customer contracts and engagements in accordance with company policies and contract obligations.Ensure obligations from supplier and customer contracts are understood and embedded in all necessary operational processes and transactions to minimise risk and exposure for Austrak.Ensure commercial obligations from client contracts are flowed down to suppliers and sub-contractors where required.Develop, negotiate and implement contracts with materials suppliers and work to achieve cost savings through procurement of materials.Ensure that budgeted and agreed materials rates are achieved at factories and that factories are buying at best possible rates.Manage all lease agreements, relationships and lease negotiations.Liaise with legal advisors and insurance brokers when required.Assist Austrak managers with and advise on commercial negotiations with consultants and suppliers.Work with finance and sales to develop estimates for new project bids.Assess available factory capacity and monitor progress against delivery in collaboration with the Factory managers.Commercial Administration: Ensure the contracts register is kept up to date; ensure that contract life cycles are monitored and contracts are renegotiated as and when required; ensure the correct insurances (Austrak's and suppliers) are in place to cover contract risk.Provide commercial assistance to the greater Vossloh Australia group, where required, in the negotiation and delivery of projects.Skills and experienceDegree or Diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating or equivalent.Sound knowledge and practical experience in the application of commercial and contract law.Minimum five years of extensive pre and post award contract management experience.Comprehensive understanding of contract law and contract management principles, practices and legal arguments.Demonstrated experience in the negotiation and management of customer and supply contracts that achieve service delivery outcomes.Confident experience in delivering complex and technical contractual information in a clear, concise and consistent way to stakeholders at all levels.Strong commercial and business acumen, alongside the ability to think strategically and provide recommendations, highlighting key risks with a mitigation plan.Experience working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.DesirableRelevant manufacturing or construction project (contractor or materials supply) experience.Contracts & Procurement experience.Estimating, cost modelling and cost analysis experience.Benefits and perksWork anniversary bonus - every 5 years get an extra weeks annual leave + $3000 to spend on a holiday!Generous career development funds to support your career progression.Salary sacrificing options (including novated leases).Death and TPD insurance coverage.Salary continuance insurance.Additional purchased leave options.15 weeks paid parental leave + first 12 months on paid/unpaid parental leave, superannuation will be paid.Access to LifeWorks Employee Assistance Program (EAP) & employee recognition rewards program.We strongly encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, people from diverse backgrounds, women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and non-binary people, veterans, parents, and individuals differently abled to apply.Austrak is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes everyone in our organisation.If you need reasonable adjustments at any point in the application or interview process, please let us know.In your application, please feel free to note which pronouns you use (for example – she/her/hers, he/him/his, they/them/theirs, etc).
