Job Description The Senior Claims Consultant manages a portfolio of complex life insurance claims proactively, in accordance with TAL's claims philosophy, procedures, policy terms, the Life Insurance Code of Practice, and other legislative requirements.
A key aspect of this role is delivering a best-in-class customer and client experience, including regular communication about claim status and managing expectations to ensure quality health and claim outcomes.
Accountabilities include: Managing complex life insurance claims proactively and cost-effectively Ensuring accurate claim assessments aligned with policy terms and conditions Gathering and interpreting relevant information to develop appropriate claims strategies Determining benefit entitlements accurately to ensure timely payments of legitimate claims Collaborating with Technical Specialists, Recovery & Support Specialists, Health Services, and other stakeholders Providing guidance to team members on claims management processes and procedures Modeling effective case and portfolio management practices Supporting less experienced Claims Consultants and contributing to their development Delivering exceptional customer service Qualifications Experience in a similar role involving life, lump sum, trauma, and income protection claims assessment within the Financial Services/Insurance industry Relevant tertiary qualifications (desirable) Ability to build rapport and demonstrate empathy during challenging situations Background in medical, vocational, or rehabilitation fields (desirable) You are always accountable, persistent, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for customers and partners.
