The Senior Audit Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of a professional audit service and objective assurance to the business over key business risks, through independent assessment of internal management controls. The Senior Audit Manager will serve as the 2IC to the Audit Director as a member of the Genworth Corporate Audit Services (‘GCAS’) Department of Genworth with headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, USA. This position will report administratively to the Audit Director in Sydney.
The main responsibilities include:
Individual Audit Execution
Lead critical risk assessments as well as the evaluation of controls and liability arising from regulatory compliance, financial reporting and operations for assigned business units. Provide recommendations for problem resolution to audit management and the business unit.
Plan and lead audits across Genworth Australia on strategic, operational and financial processes as well as on existing and proposed systems to achieve engagement objectives. Analyze data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, or fraud. Appraise the adequacy of the corrective action taken to improve deficient conditions. Develop and execute test plans that assess risk and controls on operating procedures and processes.
Contribute to the professional development of the Audit Consultant
Oversee and prepare audit workpapers that support the audit scope and final report and are documented in accordance with GCAS audit standards
Track open audit findings for closure and ensure audit findings are appropriately addressed by the business in a timely manner
Make oral or written presentations to management during and at the conclusion of the audit, discussing deficiencies, recommending corrective action, and suggesting improvements in operations etc.
Achieve satisfactory results in Internal and External Quality Reviews
Utilise available technical resources and tools to enhance work product
Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Program Execution
Manage the SOX test of design and test of effectiveness audits and other SOX related activities
Collaborate and coordinate with Genworth Global SOX PMO team based in Richmond VA
Co-ordinate with external auditors SOX annual requirements including reliance on electronic audit evidence for actuarial processes
Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA) Compliance Review
Leads APRA annual compliance review and ensures all compliance matters have been adhered to for regulatory reporting required by Internal Audit
Annual Audit Plan Development
Assist the Director in the preparation of an annual Audit Plan that identifies significant risks across the business
Partner with the company’s external auditor when appropriate to ensure risk coverage and synergies as directed by the Internal Audit Director.
Assist in the preparation of audit reports and audit summaries for report to the Genworth Australia Board Audit Committee, Executive Committee and GCAS US.
Develop and maintain key relationships across the business, project and global audit teams
Maintain appropriate knowledge of internal and external environments to perform responsibilities with excellence
Contribute to internal audit department initiatives such as training and development, updates to internal audit policies and procedures and other continuous audit improvement projects, where required
Perform or assist in the performance of special reviews at the request of management.
Communicate effectively with clients by demonstrating flexibility in prioritizing, timeliness in completing tasks and communicating potential conflicts
Maintain current knowledge of matters impacting the industry, the company as well as regulatory requirements impacting internal controls and relevant risks
Adhere to the compliance obligations relevant to the position; perform duties in an ethical, lawful and safe manner; undertake training as directed by the Compliance Leader; report and escalate compliance concerns, issues and failures; and disclose potential conflicts of interest
Participate on regular conference calls with the global GCAS and US SOX team Perform other adhoc duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications – Required
Degree in business, accounting or other applicable field.
At least eight (8) years of relevant audit work experience, preferably within a risk management and/or Big 4/5 environment and/or the financial services industry.
Internal and/or external auditing experience.
Knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards and application thereof
Ability to assess and determine risk impacts.
Ability to reason logically and use judgment, analyze and evaluate data and information, and draw appropriate conclusions.
Experience focused on SOX 404 efforts, including documenting controls, designing and executing test plans and analysing control deficiencies
Experience auditing public companies in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the PCAOB standards
Ability to present analysis and findings in a cohesive, understandable and actionable format to all levels of management
The ability to effectively build client relationships and deliver timely and exceptional quality service.
Ability to document audit workpapers
Plan and scope audits appropriately to achieve the internal audit objectives
The ability to work creatively and analytically in problem-solving environments
Ability to proactively manage assigned tasks, handle multiple tasks concurrently and adhere to tight deadlines and ability to be flexible for changes that come up
Maturity and business experience to manage sensitive information that could be personal in nature or Company confidential
Familiarity with COSO 2013 and COBIT 5.0 internal control frameworks
Strong computer skills (e.g., proficiency in Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Experience auditing and managing in a public company environment, within a regulated industry
Demonstrated project management experience.
Working with multi vendors including a co-sourced arrangement
Qualifications - Preferred
Other applicable industry certifications (e.g., CIA, PMIIA, CISA)
Ideally, a post qualification degree, such as an MBA.
