About the Role Seeking a challenging role where you can use your expertise in navigating complex environmental approval processes? Our Regulatory Approvals team have an opportunity for you to join them in driving effective stakeholder collaboration to ensure operational continuity.
Reporting to our Approvals Manager – State Agreements, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of responsible mining at Alcoa by ensuring the development and execution of approvals for operational projects is built around evidence-based decision making, environmental sustainability principles and collaboration across the relevant business functions.
Your primary purpose and core activities will be:
Planning and executing Mining and Management Program (MMP) and Forest Clearing Advices, (FCAs) and any associated assessment of these approvals under Part IV of the EP Act.
Identifying and managing critical risks associated with approvals ensuring risk mitigation actions and timing are assigned, tracked, and executed.
Reviewing scope of works for environmental studies and reviewing technical documents for early identification of approvals pathway.
Supporting the Approvals Manager – State Agreement in engagement with State government agencies on issues pertaining to regulatory approvals.

What you can bring to the role Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related fields of study with substantial experience in major environmental approvals process in industry.
Previous experience in supporting environmental approvals processes in industry or Government.
Creative problem solver who is able to cut through ambiguity and uncertainty and develop practical solutions by embracing ideas and input from team members and stakeholders.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to make sound, logical and balanced judgements.
Proficiency in analysing information from a variety of sources to solve complex environmental challenges.
Your adaptability to any situation that thrives in challenging environments, along with your persistent and collaborative approach in bringing new ideas to life.
