Our opportunity As Senior Accountant – Construction, you will support the Construction business achieve its financial performance goals, deliver on strategy and create an efficient and effective operating environment with responsibility for the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, month end reporting and analysis, overhead resource management, technical accounting support and other ad hoc tasks as required.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Early and consistent engagement with project teams through the forecasting process, ensuring alignment on assumptions and deliverables.Monthly engagement with the business on overhead resource management providing actionable and strategic insights.Regular engagement across Development and Group finance teams to ensure financial reporting and forecasting meets requirements.Support the budgeting and forecasting process by partnering with the business, reviewing key assumptions, modelling in Anaplan and providing actionable commentary and insights to key stakeholders at both a project and portfolio level.Monthly preparation of Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow analysis, ensuring integrity of data and providing commentary on variances.Work closely with key stakeholders to understand changes in project deliverables and the impact on resource utilisation.Accountable for the review and maintenance of the general ledger for Construction, including the preparation of month end journals, the management of Operating Expenses, and the collaboration with both the onshore and offshore Financial Control teams.Prepare project financial performance reports (monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annual), validate the financials and provide insightful commentary to explain performance. This includes reporting on project financial KPIs and at portfolio level.Support the Financial Control function with reporting periodic requirements and Group deliverables to meet monthly, quarterly and annual statutory and forecast reporting requirements.Play a proactive role in establishing a financial framework and operating rhythm to support the Construction business as it increasingly enters into contracts with external partners. This includes, but is not limited to monthly progress claims, internal and external cashflow forecast, accounting policies including profit recognition and eliminations where there is an ownership interest, and metric reporting, both financially and commercially. Additionally, liaise across the broad internal stakeholder base to ensure the related reporting and contractual requirements are met in a timely manner.Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure robust cashflow management and forecasting is in place, building an improved focus on cashflow outcomes for the division. Your point of difference The successful candidate will be CA/CPA qualified with prior finance experience ideally within property development. High level communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills are a must. You will have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, strong Excel capability and good attention to detail. You're passionate, possess a can-do attitude and the ability to work to deadlines.
