This is an exciting opportunity with Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) to join the Board of Examiners (BOE) and make a significant contribution to safeguard competency standards in Queensland's mining industry to empower effective, sustainable safety and health leadership.
The BOE Secretariat is the business unit that assists the BOE in the day-to-day business of the Board and manages the overall delivery of long-term business plans.
You will support the Chair of the BOE by providing high level secretariat services and organisational support including ensuring the effective management of Board meetings and business.
You will lead and manage a small team focused on areas such as stakeholder engagement and support, legislative advice, systems support, candidate assessment and data management.
The duties of the BOE Secretariat include but are not limited to:
Manage and supervise the coordination of the examination and certification process for certificates of competency under mining related safety legislation by assessing suitability of statutory candidates, arranging all aspects of exams, notifying candidates of exam outcomes. Managing the Practising Certificate Scheme on behalf of the BOE. Engaging with industry stakeholders by providing sound and timely advice. Providing high level secretariat support to the Chair of the BOE and BOE. Reporting on key deliverables and state of the statutory tickets in the mining sector. Assist in the development of the digital transformation of BOE activities including the support of ancillary projects. Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, management and stakeholders including industry organisations and unions. Delivering results in an environment with limited resourcing and time constraints. Prioritise and delegate work in line with contemporary regulatory functions, practices and systems. Develop and maintain effective networks and relationships in industry to support delivery of the BOE's strategic objectives. Develop a continuous improvement mindset using leading practice and policy to influence positive changes for the BOE. Key Knowledge and Experience Experience in leading a team to achieve goals through quality decision-making, delegation and guidance to team members and stakeholders. Knowledge of predictive project management and the ability to define requirements and produce detailed plans. Skills and experience in the development of legislation would be highly desirable. Relevant mining industry experience would be highly desirable. Relevant vocational training experience would be highly desirable.
