Remuneration Level 8: $123,044 - $138,637 + 17% superannuation.
Employment Type: Continuing, Full Time (35-hour week) Location: Kensington, NSW (The successful candidate will work on campus minimum three days a week) About us: UNSW Business School is a leader in business education and research in the Asian region and one of the largest Business Schools in Australia with more than 16,500 students, 500 academic and professional staff and more than 80,000 alumni and partners.
The Business School offers a full suite of business degree programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, coursework and research levels, including the AGSM MBA programs and a range of Executive Programs.
Position Summary: The role is responsible for leading and managing the effective service delivery of all administrative functions and operations within the School, including provision of policy advice and support to the Head of School.
The School Manager will be called on by senior staff in the faculty to provide high level insights related to financial performance, education and research.
The role reports to Deputy Faculty Executive Director, with a dotted line to the Head of School.
The dotted line in this case reflects the accountability of the School Manager to support the Head of School, in strategy and operational execution for the School, and in meeting the particular needs of the School, and the Deputy Faculty Executive Director is to consult with the Head of School about the School Manager's performance and delivery.
This role has 3 direct reports.
Accountabilities: (please review the Position Description for a full list of Accountabilities) Lead the planning and provision of administrative support to the academic activities of the school, in collaboration with the Head of School and other key stakeholders.
Provide strategic management and operational advice on the full range of School activities and performance, reporting on School performance progress and outcomes.
Effectively plan, manage and allocate human and physical resources to deliver School services in all functional areas including learning and teaching, research, training and administration.
Interpret, implement and advise on University policies, assisting academic and professional staff with complex policy interpretation and procedural issues.
Demonstrate effective liaison, collaboration and negotiation skills with key stakeholders on School and Faculty operational matters, including representing the School or Faculty on relevant committees and undertaking special projects.
Provide operational leadership and advice in the day to day running of the School across a range of areas, including but not limited to, academic and student administration, research program support, facilities and IT requirements, governance, WH&S and financial management.
Work with key business partners across operational areas to effectively manage, provide advice and report on areas including budget and finances, human resources, facilities and physical resources, records and information systems, communications and marketing and student administration.
Support ongoing development of School staff through driving career conversations, setting priorities and contributing to the planning and review of work objectives.
Skills and Experience: To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship.

(please review the Position Description for a full list of Skills and Experience) Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
Demonstrated experience in financial planning and management and proven ability to interpret financial data to provide high quality advice.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, contribute to strategic planning processes and to operationalise strategy within administrative operations, preferably within the higher education sector.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Strong consultation, influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated leadership experience with ability to lead, motivate, coach, develop and manage individuals and teams to deliver high quality services and support Proven skills and experience in resource planning, goal setting and project management.
Demonstrated experience in business improvement activities or leading change processes.
Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative, without compromising quality.
