About the Job The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a dynamic, safety-focused professional to lead the growing Safety, Risk, and Emergency Management branch within our Transperth Train Operations division. This role is pivotal in shaping and enforcing high standards in rail safety and compliance, ensuring a safe environment for both passengers and employees.
As the divisional Safety Manager, you will provide strategic direction and leadership in all aspects of safety, risk, and emergency management within the Transperth Train Operations division of the PTA. This includes overseeing the implementation of safety systems, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with WA Rail Safety legislation and relevant health and safety standards. You will play a key role in advising senior management and coordinating with PTA's rail safety governance branch to promote a consistent safety approach across the organisation. Your responsibilities will include developing safety policies, overseeing emergency management systems such as the Emergency Management Manual (EMM) and annual exercises, and liaising with external agencies. In this critical role, you'll collaborate with the broader PTA safety team to align training and safety standards across all divisions of the PTA.
About you! To excel in this role, you should possess:
High level knowledge and experience with the relevant WA and National Rail Safety legislative requirements including Rail Safety Management systems to current Australian Standards.Extensive experience in the preparation, management, and audit of safety management systems.High-level knowledge of quality assurance principles, techniques, and continuous improvement methods, along with a strong understanding of the WA Occupational Safety and Health Act, relevant standards, and associated legislative requirements.High level communication and interpersonal skills, including effective negotiation, consultation, presentation, and facilitation skills.Demonstrated well-developed leadership skills with the ability to work with others at all levels and across an organisation in a professional way.About Us The Public Transport Authority's (PTA) vision is to be recognised as a leader in providing world-class public transport services and solutions.
