As a result of this, we are looking for someone who can continue to drive the implementation of the existing recommendations and ongoing projects, support and enhance the team capability and performance, and contribute to maximizing the opportunities through strategic and operational excellence for procurement to support the broader Department.

About the role:
The Deputy Chief Procurement Officer ensures the successful delivery of strategic procurement, contract management, and category management functions for the department. The position is instrumental in supporting the Chief Procurement Officer in the development and maintenance of strategies, business improvement, and category initiatives that drive exceptional value for money outcomes for the department's considerable annual spend on goods and services.
The position represents the department in executive level intra-agency, inter-agency, and external relations, forging strong working relationships and networks which position the Department for Education as a leader in, and ambassador for, modern and proactive procurement practices. The Deputy Chief Procurement Officer provides leadership and management, supporting the entire team to be customer-focused and capable of delivering efficient and effective procurement, contract management, and category management services across the department.
Essential qualifications and competencies:
An appropriate tertiary qualification including post-graduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline desirable or relevant experience. Experience leading in a large and complex organization at an executive level, ensuring the translation of priorities into executed deliverables.

Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
